In the quiet morning of October 17, 2012 at 0810 hour, our
national flag was raised in the court yard of our Vanuatu High Commission
chancery for the very first time with gentle morning breeze along with our
national anthem. It was a touching moment with pride for CVSA, Vanuatu
community in Canberra, friends of Vanuatu, together with senior officials from
the government of Vanuatu to witness this very special moment.
The High Commissioner welcomed everyone to the Office of the
High Commission and thanked everyone to take time off from their busy schedule
to be part of the ceremony. The High Commissioner stated that although it was a
small ceremony but it was a significant moment to the establishment of the
office of the High Commission.
The Director General of Finance encourages members of the
community and friends of Vanuatu to use the office of the High Commission and
also support the work of the High Commission.
Officials from the Vanuatu Government at the official flag
raising ceremony include Director General of Finance, Mr. Georges Maniuri,
Director of Cooperatives and Ni Vanuatu Business, Mr. Sowany Joseph, Mr.
Jerryson Lapi, Senior Analyst in the Department of Strategic, Planning, Policy
and Aid Coordination and Mr. Terry Kapah, Senior Finance Officer, Ministry of
Foreign Affairs.
