CVSA Farewells graduating members

The Vanuatu Canberra Students Association (CVSA) celebrated on Sunday 14th November 2010 a special occasion to mark yet another achievement for Vanuatu in terms of its human resources development – the forthcoming graduation of two of its senior students Mr. John Ezra, graduating with Master of Public Policy (specialising in Policy Analysis), and Mr. William Bani, graduating with Master of Environmental Management & Development – both from the well respected ANU’s Crawford School of Economics and Government.

They each spoke of their experiences at the ANU as having been very challenging, but very rewarding in terms of the knowledge and experiences gained. Bani particularly commented in his message that while graduation may sound a great idea, it is only part of a ‘process outcome’ to indicate a certain step forward, but that the reality lies back home or wherever one is employed after graduation where ‘impact outcomes’ reveal the quality of the candidate.

The social gathering was attended and witnessed also by two local Vanuatu residents, Sheila Ligo and Brigitte with her Children. Sheila, who has been a very strong and enthusiastic supporter of CVSA since involving with it in preparing and joining the country’s 30th Independence Anniversary here in Canberra in July, expressed on behalf of the local residents that she was “proud of the graduating students” and the CVSA student body as a whole, and that our higher learning progress is a great sign of Vanuatu’s advancement.

The departure of the duo will further reduce the members of the CVSA. However, we are anticipating the arrival of one or two new students in 2011 to join the team here in Canberra.
