Graduation of two CVSA Members

When it comes to policy school in the southern hemisphere outside of the UK, the Australian National University (ANU) keeps producing some of the best in the world, notably the Crawford School of Economics and Government.

On 15th July this year, Vanuatu’s first female Solicitor General, Ms. Viran Molisa Trief advanced a step further in her career by graduating six months ahead of schedule with a colourful Master of Public Policy. Viran is a lawyer by profession. She spent almost a decade serving at the Vanuatu Attorney General’s Office. When asked earlier why she decided to take up this course of study at the ANU, she explained that she wanted to do something different other than law. Her graduation was attended by her father, one of the founding fathers of Vanuatu’s Independence, Hon. MP Sela Molisa, her husband and her two daughters.

Senior staff of Vanuatu’s Reserve Bank, Mr. Mark Mera, also graduated with one of those sought after Master of International Development Economics. Mark’s graduation in this field will no doubt strengthen technical and management skills within the Reserve Bank especially in important areas of policy development. Mark is the RBV’s Bank Supervisor within the ‘Financial Institutions and Supervision Department’.

Two other members of the CVSA were also present at the graduation of Ms. Trief and Mr. Mera.
