Vanuatu 30th Independence Anniversary Celebrations

To celebrate Vanuatu’s 30th Anniversary, CVSA, in collaboration with the Vanuatu residents of Canberra, are organising for the first time, a joint event on Sunday 1st August, to commemorate this historic day. The recognised Children’s day in Vanuatu will also be celebrated on that day.

It would be the first time ever for Vanuatu students and Vanuatu residents in Canberra to come together for any event. Also in recognition and support for the Vanuatu Parliament’s recent motion of taking the issue of West Papua to the United Nations, the West Papua community in Canberra are also being invited to join the Vanuatu community in this celebration.

It is expected that over 50 people would be present in this gathering, which would be considered as a record for any Vanuatu gathering in Canberra. Invitations have been sent out to other ni-Vans in NSW while other ni-Vans around the country are also very welcome to join if they can. This invitation is also being extended to any ni-Vans visiting Canberra on that day.

Anyone who wishes to join us in the celebration, please contact Sheila Ligo on 04-1086-6621 or 6287-3965 for more information.

CVSA would like to thank the celebration committee in Vanuatu for responding to our request in providing funds towards this celebration in Canberra. Preparations are currently undergoing to making this event a memorable one.
